How wonderful to hear your voices. I'd not heard of Catfish before, I'm going to try and find it now.Just FYI - Des Moines is the capitol of Iowa.I think we're all about the same age and all started on the internet about the same time so it was rather fun to be nostalgic about the old days. Netscape! 56.6kbs modems! Like you, I have pretended to be a man online. In the chat rooms I used to frequent you had more luck just chatting if people didn't think they'd be able to 'cyber' with you.
Thank you! You having said that, I do remember struggling to come up with usernames which were ungendered because of the number of creeps on the old chat-rooms, and being disturbed by how names like "hamster2000" or something would still attract a "Hey sexy!"They all claimed to be 21 year old computing students, and maybe some of them were, but I had my doubts.
Many Years ago, until I was told that structured 1/2 hour Word Processing Lessons were required not how to use Scanners and Movement Therapy Games, Voice recognition and other assistive technology. You want structured Lessons, sorry show me the money! They never.(seems to get funding for a computer such People had to show the ability to type a two page Document in Word..Normal people are often paternalistic idiots) From those sessions I set up a few computers for a few, like me, "differently enabled people" From that I used to joke about how Twisted and Bent some of the people whom you may be talking to on the net really are. The Internet the great leveller!
You should try being a starfish! I used to be called karma (another life)! Interesting!
More reviews please! I particularly like the fact you broaden out the discussion into the issues raised in the film.I agree with "Ezekiel" re the wave of tech-nostalgia this invoked.
I listened to snippit as just wanted to hear your voice!! Great idea. But i would like to see the film :)
