Today is my Dad's birthday and when I was making him a cake, I decided to try and adapt my creation to a horse theme.
Unfortunately, the result puts one in mind of that scene with the horse's head from The Godfather (it's not like in the movie of course, but this is more or less the exact image I had when reading the book).
Has anyone ever seen such a horrifying cake? Or a more disturbing representation of the equine family? I'm guessing not...

Actually I think it looks like a character straight out of Wallace and Gromit
I'll bet it was delicious. To me, it looks delicious.
Hee hee! I love it. :)
It looks yummy and that is all that is important!
Um.
That's not actually where horses wear their nostrils...
Hey: it's cake and it has a high chocolate quotient. What's not to like?
I agree, it isn't horrific, it is a Wallace and Grommit world piece of art! And it looks good to eat too!
I've had cakes come out not as desired, too. My favorite cake was for my son's preschool birthday party--it had straight roads carved into it, with cars and other vehicles atop. That I could do!
The unicorn I couldn't get, but my father-in-law drew it on the cake freehand in icing moments before the party.
Chocolate is chocolate--it probably just didn't match your idea for it.
I'd third the Wallace & Gromit notion. And although it does look tasty, the teeth are a little scary...
You made cake. I can't remember the last time someone made me a cake. Who cares if it's not anatomically perfect? It's cake, and it's cake made with love. What more could a parent want?
Thanks everyone,
My Dad's response was "Oh Lord!"
And then he made the Godfather reference too. However, it had by this point been made slightly more horrifying by the addition of Happy Birthday candles by my sister...
But everyone said it was very tasty. Even my Granny, who is a true conisseur.
I dunno. The teeth are kinda genius.
And now, thankfully, it has been euthanized so that it no longer has to suffer the wretchedness of having been born different.
(sniff)
All of you who ate it, you did the right thing. It couldn't have survived long on its own, what with being all delicious and everything.
I think it's an excellent horse or should that be Shetland pony?
Either way, it's the taste that counts to say nothing of the sentiment.
Cheers
The cake is getting famous
Has been nominated for this weeks britblog round up 177
