The book sucks

So I'm reading through one of the most difficult passages in my book, a moment full of sexual tension and intrigue. Unfortunately, I read that my heroine remains hoovering by the door. Characters do take on a life of their own, but that's ridiculous. I'm trying to bring things to a head and she's worrying about the domestic chores.
