There are some things about my life I am sensitive about being judged for, but if I am to be judged, there is little I can say or do to exonerate myself in another person's mind.

So now we have so much freedom to live life the way we want, why don't other people have the confidence to ignore these imaginary slights? Why do so many folks imagine them in the first place when other people simply accept a difference in opinion and experience? The Goldfishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15213378454070776331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10557263.post-1140169061827518602006-02-17T09:37:00.000+00:002006-02-17T09:37:00.000+00:00I've said this elsewhere in the blogsphere, but it...I've said this elsewhere in the blogsphere, but it bears saying again: some people interpret a simple difference of opinion or taste as implicit criticism of themselves. If you say you don't want children, that must mean that you think I am wrong/selfish/stupid for having/wanting children. How dare you? Therefore I will counterattack.

Just read threads on the ouch! board for extended examples of this mindset.

Not realising that simple fact has got me into oodles of trouble over the years, I would hate for it to trip you up too.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10557263.post-1140125791287761782006-02-16T21:36:00.000+00:002006-02-16T21:36:00.000+00:00"Inconceivable": deliberate pun, or Freudian slip?..."Inconceivable": deliberate pun, or Freudian slip?Lady Bracknellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06140991035663374911noreply@blogger.com
